Photography Workshops
Starting in Ocean Grove, Victoria - Join Photographer Brendan Waites as he teaches you the process of taking stunning landscape and seascape photographs.
What you’ll learn:
- COMPOSITION
- BEST USE OF LIGHT
- MASTERING APERTURE & OTHER SETTINGS
- LONG EXPOSURE PHOTOGRAPHY
Experience required: Ideally you have a basic understanding of your cameras different modes and settings. However this is not essential.
Location: Meet at Camera & Photo in Ocean Grove, Victoria.
Time: Varying start times as the light allows - see drop down for dates and times.
Duration: Approx 4 hours (runs until sunset)
What to bring: Your camera, lenses and a tripod (if you have one - not essential)
This workshop will start with a short tutorial at Ocean Grove Camera & Photo. We will then go to a beachside location (self drive) for sunset to put it all into practice and get you some great shots!
THIS IS AN ALL WEATHER WORKSHOP. The workshop will only be postponed under DIRE weather forecasts.
Remember: bad weather makes for GREAT shots!

We’ll then spend the next 3 days exploring and photographing this beautiful part of Victoria.

Brendan’s one-on-one photography lessons are designed for anyone from curious beginners to enthusiastic hobbyists who want to take their images to the next level. Each session is tailored to your current skill level, pace, and photographic interests — whether you’re just getting comfortable with exposure, composition, and camera basics, or you’re ready to dive into more complex areas, Brendan focuses on clear, practical instruction that you can apply immediately, with hands-on demonstrations and real-time feedback as you shoot.
You can book a single session to address a specific topic — for example, learning how to use aperture and shutter speed, mastering autofocus, or improving lighting. Single sessions are a great way to get quick wins and solve immediate problems in your shooting workflow. For long-term growth, many students prefer multiple sessions spaced over weeks or months. This approach lets Brendan build a structured learning plan, revisit challenging concepts, track your progress, and introduce more advanced techniques.
One on One lessons are flexible in format: in-store, on-location, or even online via Zoom. Brendan emphasizes practical exercises, assignments between sessions, and constructive critique of your images so you leave each lesson with clear next steps. Whether you want to shoot sharper landscapes, capture more compelling portraits, or simply feel confident taking your camera off auto, these lessons aim to make learning enjoyable, efficient, and directly applicable to the photos you want to create.
These sessions are charged at $99 per hour. Brendan recommends no more than 3 hours at a time.
A suitable date and time can be worked out for anyone, but usually these sessions will happen outside of Camera & Photo’s store trading hours. Please contact us for more info and to arrange times.
